After the protest in Milan, the Clean Clothes campaign launched a petition against Benetton.
We bring a translation of the text of the petition and invite you to sign and support the workers Leonarda:
Benetton has a reputation for celebrating diversity and supporting socially responsible causes. That’s why I was very disappointed to discover the dark reality behind that reputation: unpaid workers’ claims. Through the Clean Clothes Campaign, I learned that your decision to reduce orders from Croatia left workers without any protection after their factory went bankrupt.
The Leonarda dd factory produced clothing for your company for over twenty years. Former Leonarda dd employees are still waiting for their severance pay.
I demand that Benetton:
Ensures that all dismissed Leonarda employees receive their severance pay, including the associated interest. The total amount of debt currently amounts to almost 50,000 euros.
In cooperation with local unions, check whether other workers at Benetton’s subcontractors in Croatia have also been left without legally guaranteed wages and severance pay, and establish a plan to protect workers who produce its clothing during further business reductions.
The workers who produced Benetton’s clothes deserve the dignity, respect and compensation they deserve.
Please let me know what you have done about this.
